PMAC Jazz Adventurers is for those who want to play jazz in a combo setting. The size and instrumentation of the combo varies from semester to semester. Matt Langley chooses the material by bringing in lead sheets for the first few classes to try out tunes and get good keys for singers, etc. Matt also takes suggestions from group members on tunes they would like to perform. Once we settle on a tune, we start to work on arrangements for the ensemble. Matt will arrange tunes for the specific members of the ensemble. When a member of the ensemble expresses an interest in arranging, they are welcome to bring in a piece or take one of the pieces that have been chosen over the first few weeks of the class. Matt will help arrangers in any way possible. Matt works in Finale 2014 but can accept and provide Music XML format for importing into other popular music notation software. We focus on past and present jazz repertoire and improvisation in a supportive atmosphere.
