Spring is here but she’s a little chillbound

We’re earning our “Frozen North” moniker this spring.  The snow mountains are finally melting and giving way to frozen mud but we’re still regularly experiencing below freezing nights and mornings with snow squalls here and there. This winter just won’t take GET LOST for an answer and keeps trying to hang on! The party van has spent the last few weeks staring out the garage windows wonder when she can get back on the road. We ALMOST took her out yesterday but music, and a trip to 7th Settlement in Dover, NH sidetracked us and then we went and heard Zach Lange’s band from the Seacoast Academy of Music at Sonny’s for a while. By then, it was quite dark and we were quite tired so we went home, cranked up the fire and passed out in our chairs. LOVE IT!

Here’s a little bit of music to take the hill off and put a spring in your step. Please join us if you can.

Saturday, April 4th, 7:30 PM – Mother Superior and the Sliding RoyalesThe Dance Hall, Kittery, ME – Mother Superior has been a little quiet lately so it’s time to come on out and hear Taylor O’Donnell tear it up on some original soul music. There will be a few covers here and there too. Kendall Moore has joined the band on Trombone and he’s definitely take the horn section to new heights. Opening the night will be Harsh Armadillo

Friday, April 10th, 9PM – Mother Superior and the Sliding RoyalesFury’s Publick House, Dover, NH – A RARE TRIPLE dose of MOSUP this month! Get on up and get on out to Fury’s. Rumor has it that’s we’re commanding the whole evening tonight! We may have to open things up a bit. Hmmmm!?

Saturday, April 11th, 5PM – PMAC Teen Jazz Band – Food Pantry Fundraiser, Masonic Temple, Portsmouth, NH – This is a fun night for a great cause. Come on over to the Masonic Temple and have a meal to support the Seacoast Food Pantry. While you dine, you’ll be serenaded by some members of the teen jazz program from the Portsmouth Music and Arts Center. Wahoo!

Saturday, April 11th, 8PM – Combo Sabroso – Haiti Benefit at VFW Portsmouth. – Man, it’s been a LONG time for me since I was able to make a Combo Sabroso hang with Matt Jenson. This is ANOTHER great cause. Matt’s been doing this gig for years and everyone comes out of the woodwork to celebrate for Haiti. Come on out and DANCE!!

Sunday, April 12th, 10AM – Jazz Service, 2nd Christian Congregational Church, Kittery, ME – The 2nd Sunday Jazz Service at 2CCUCC with Pastor Brad Hirst and Music Minister Mike Effenberger jazzing up the scripture. Jim Rudolf and I round out the band and the 2CCUCC Choir joins in the fun along with the entire congregation. You should be there!

That’s good for now. More on the way but I’ll want to kibitz about the weather before then so I’ll be back for some small talk and a short calendar rundown. Thanks for visiting and for caring about live music, art, theater, etc. We do it all for you and are totally appreciative of your presence and participation!
