Music flows as summer steams on.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope your summer is going great and you’re getting a chance to spend some time with friends and family. This has been a very fun summer with some great music festivals up north and on the seacoast. We’ve got one more week at the NHISOM Camp up at Lake Winnepesauke and, if it’s as fun as the first week, it’s gonna be a blast. If you’re in the area (Geneva Point Road in Moltonborough, NH) come on over on Friday, July 16th at 6PM for the casual “coffee house” style concert or Saturday morning, July 17th at 10:30AM for the official concert.
I’m getting psyched for a tour to the Pacific Northwest with my friend, pianist Ted Brancato. I had the pleasure of recording a CD with Ted last winter and it’s finally coming out shortly. In honor of it’s release, Ted has setup a great tour of his old Pacific Northwest stomping grounds. You can check out Ted’s site for the itinerary or click on the gigs tab here and look at the gigs from September 13th through the 26th. If you live in the area, come on out and hear the band and say hello. I’d love to see you. Rumor has it that some Langleys from way out west may make the trek up to Washington state to see the old man!
So, as always, a hearty THANK YOU to all of you who go out and support the arts in our community and beyond. We’re very lucky to call the New Hampshire/Maine Seacoast home and the artistic community is vibrant because of kind souls like yourself. Here’s an upcoming show or two you may enjoy:
Thursday, August 15th, 8PM – Charlie Kohlhase Explorer’s Club – Outpost 186, Cambridge, MA – Charlie’s Explorer’s Club is starting to lay down some recorded versions of the material we’ve been working on over the past months. Tonight Charlie will lead the band through an ever changing and inspired repertoire.
Friday, August 16th, 9:30PM – Matt Jenson’s Combo Sabroso – The Press Room, Portsmouth, NH – This is gwine to be a pahhhty fer sure. Matt and the boyz have been doing a few shows here and there but on this night, in the best Music Club in the Northeast, one of the finest versions of the CS will be laying down grooves to rattle the rafters. Join Matt Jenson on Keys & Vocals, Alex Alvear on Bass and Vocals, Manolo Miarena on Vocals and Congas, Pablo Bencid on Timbales and vocals, Yaure Muniz on Trumpet, percussion and vocals and myself on sax and percussion. PLEASE GET THERE EARLY…we don’t want you wasting any dancing energy waiting in line!!!
Wednesday, August 28th, 8PM – Charlie Kohlhase Explorer’s Club – The Lily Pad, Cambridge, MA – Another fine night of adventurous jazz with Charlie Kohlhase and the crew. The Lily Pad now sports a bar with some fine selections to add to your enjoyment of one of Boston’s Jazz rooms.
Monday, September 2nd, 6PM – David Tonkin Group – The Barley House, Concord, NH – Guitarist David Tonkin leads the group through a selection of music that can only be described as eclectic or ELECTRIC! Timmy Gilmore may still be on the mend from his recent surgery (doing very well but could always use a call!) so we may be graced by the presence of John Faggiano on drums. Don Williams on bass and myself on saxes round the group but there’s always the possibility that Randy Roos will be with us on guitar and others may stop in at any time.
That ought to do it for now. Thanks again for your visit. Hope to see you out there on the street or in front of the the stage or on the bandstand or in the second row or in front of a painting or…
