Zach and Klax keep Jimmy amused

Here we cruise into the new year! January’s flying by at a rapid clip but things are starting to get in a good groove. School’s back. Students are back. The CCMS Ensemble is cooking and getting ready for their recital. There’s some great music on the horizon for this saxophonist. Here’s a taste.
Saturday, January 14, 8PM – Combo Sabroso – The Dance Hall, Kittery, ME – It’s been a while since the Sabroso-ites rocked Kittery. This time around we’ll have band leader Matt Jenson at the helm, Alex Alvear holding down the bass and vocals, Pablo Bencid on Percussions, a special guest on congas, Scotty Flynn revisiting the Combo on trombone and myself; Matt Langley on saxophone! C’mon out and dance with us wontcha?!?!

Pingree will stick around for a reading of Kenneth Patchen’s “What is the beautiful” as performed on the recent Claudia Quintet release of the same name (loosely transcribed for the FTET).
Friday, January 20, 7PM & 9PM – CCMS Jazz Faculty Concert – Concord Community Music School, Concord, NH – The annual faculty Jazz Concert at Concord’s Arts Mecca; the Concord Community Music School! This is always a great show because this edition of the CCMS Jazz Faculty has been together for many years now. Join David Tonkin on Guitar, Tom Robinson on keyboards, Richard Gardzina on Saxes, Tim Gilmore on Drums, John Faggiano on Drums, Don Williams on Bass and saxophonist Matt Langley on saxes while we explore some original compositions as well as an eclectic collection of covers.
Sunday, January 22, 10:30AM – Mike Walsh/Matt Langley Duo – Dante’s, Barrington NH – Mike Walsh and I will toy with some jazz standards and whatever else comes to mind while you enjoy some great food and great company at Dante’s in Barrington, NH.
