What an incredible summer it has been so far. Pam and I took a road trip out west to visit the kids (read a day-by-day account here and see some pics!) and have been making short trips out of road gigs with the Eurovan ever since, whenever we can. We’re getting ready for Erin to come visit for a week or so while she’s home for her friend Rachel’s wedding. Can’t wait to hang with her again. There have been a ton of great gigs with many friends. There have been a few weeks of music camps with some great faculty and students. There are a few more weeks of camps to go at this point and I’m looking forward to both of them very much. We’re very lucky to live in such a great community that offers many opportunities to perform and experience live music, plays, art and so much more. Thanks for being out there doing so yourself! Looking forward to seeing you SOON! Here are some shows coming up.

Wednesday, 8/13 – Shango at PARMAFESTDance Hall Kittery – 9PM-ish – Jonny Peiffer’s Fela Kuti tribute band fires up the PARMAFEST Dance Party at the Dance Hall in Kittery. Every time Shango rocks the Dance Hall it is a sweaty dance party not to be missed. C’mon over and SHANGO!!!

Saturday, 8/16 – Ourbigband at PARMAFEST Main Event – The Portsmouth Music Hall – 7PM – Chris Klaxton’s “ourbigband” rocks the PARMAFEST with some original music by Chris, Rob Gerry and one of PARMA’s composers for an exciting big band show that will stretch the concept of a “big band” into new territory. Featuring Taylor O’Donnell’s vocals as well a a collection of seacoast area horn and rhythm section players. The PARMAFEST Main Event brings together artists from near and far on the historic Music Hall stage to emphasize Parma’s commitment to live music, original composition and impeccable quality!

Sunday 8/17 – Aurel D’Agostino’s Cabaret Show & Middle Eastern Dance Party – Holiday Inn Ballroom, Mansfield, MA – 5PM – I worked with Aurel D’Agostino in the Hip Pocket Orchestra for many years. She has since moved on to producing her own shows and this one pulls out all the stops! Aurel is an accomplished vocalist as well as an accomplished belly dancer! This Show/Party will showcase all her interests and promises to be incredibly entertaining and FUN! Get your tickets NOW

Wednesday 8/20 – MMF with Frank Laurino, Mike Effenberger, Steve Roy and Matt Langley – The Press Room, 77 Daniel St Portsmouth – 9PM – This is a fun band led by drummer and percussionist Frank Laurino. We’ll play some jazz, some TV themes, some rock tunes, some Lady Gaga…you know, the standard quartet repertoire! The Press Room continues to be one of the world’s greatest music rooms and we’re so lucky to have it right here in the heart of the seacoast! Thanks to Jay Gardner, Bruce Pingree and Tristan Law for keeping it happening!

That’ll do for now. Some good stuff coming up in September too but I’ll write about that…BEFORE SEPTEMBER!! I’m really going to get off my lazy ass and do it this time. This post will not sit here for a month after this stuff goes by! Mark my words. You read it here. I’m really going to do it. Love y’all…see you in the funny papers.
