Some catching up to do

Nevin Brown's shot of some Shango action at Fury's!
Nevin Brown’s shot of some Shango action at Fury’s!

Whoa! Got a little tied up in the back-to-school shuffle and forgot about keeping you up to date on my SHIT! Many, many apologies.

We’ve had some success getting out on the road recently with a trip to the Pittsfield Vermont area last weekend for some freecampsites.net hanging in the woods just outside of town. Then, a quick trip up route 100 to Killington for a hike ALMOST to the top…Sammie was too chicken to go all the way the up :)…then a quick trip down route 4 and back to the seacoast. Many fun miles but it seems the mutt can’t handle the hang any more and spends all his time standing in his crate and panting. Not the most enjoyable listening on a four or five hour drive!
Speaking of some enjoyable listening, I hope you’ll take the time to enjoy one of these upcoming shows! Thanks for stopping by!

Friday, October 17th – PMAC Faculty ConcertPortsmouth Music and Arts Center, Islington Street, Portsmouth, NH, 7PM. – PMAC has a rockin’; faculty and tonight we’re going to strut our stuff in various formats. Please come in and check out the incredible faculty and the amazing new facilities at the ALL NEW PMAC!!

Sunday, October 19th – Matt Langley’s Sound PlaygroundSonny’s Tavern, Dover NH, 7-10PM – A rare booking of my own with an equally rare collection of incredible musicians; Jeff Galindo on trombone, Luther Gray on Drums and Tim Webb on Bass. We’ll play some of my tunes and then whatever else comes to mind! Please come on out for some incredibly good food, great beer, good company and some smoking music!

Friday, October 24th – SHANGO! The Dance Hall Kittery, ME – 8PM – Jonny Peiffer’s Shango has been rockin’ some joints as of late with the music of Fela Kuti. Sometimes numbering in the low twenties in members, this band is an EXPERIENCE that SHOULD NOT be missed. Many rhythm section players laying down massive grooves with many horn players groovin’ and soloing, Stu Dias powerfully belting out Fela’s lyrics and many dancers on the bandstand movin and groovin to the Shango trance groove. YOU MUST SHANGO!

Saturday, October 25th – Mother Superior and the Sliding RoyalesFury’s, Dover, NH – 9PM – Taylor O’Donnell belts out some soulful original tunes with a FINE collection of fellas laying down the sounds. All original Soul with the emphasis on groove and SOUND! As it happens, this band sports the talented mr Stu Dias ina backing vocal, songwriting and guitar playing sorta role with his pal of the 12 notes, Mike Effenberger on keys, Mr. Funky himself, Zach Lange on trumpet, Mike Walsh kickin the tubs with Greg Glasson thumpin the Bass and yours truly barkin out the bari squawks and shrieks. Sounds enticing, eh?
