262K and other milestones…

An incredible car

Yep, 262,000 miles on that baby and still waking up raring to go at the twist of it’s ignition. This is quite possibly the best car ever manufactured…a 1999 VW Golf with the 2.0 engine. Dang, this sucker keeps taking a beating and coming back for more. Here’s to…50K more?!
What other milestones? Well, Mr. Taylor Matthew Langley just turned twenty two years old. I can’t believe my “kids” are in their twenties. Kind of makes me feel like my odometer is getting up there! I can’t say how much we enjoyed our vacation with them this year. It was truly a pleasure to be with both of them at the same time and have so much time to spend together.  Love you Erin & Taylor!
Here’s how I’ll rack up a few more miles on my literal and spiritual odometer in the next few weeks.
Monday, April 4th, 8PM – COLOR at the Press Room, Portsmouth, NH – Jamie, Chris and I take another trip into the colorsphere at our home away from home, the Press Room. Can’t wait to float some notes over those fat grooves and creamy, leslie soaked chords. Come on in please.
Thursday, April 7th, 8PM, Grupo Mofungo, One Longfellow Square, Portland, ME –
Andres Espinosa’s Grupo Mofungo is making more noise lately. This will be the full group with Mark Tipton and I on Horns, Andres on timbales and percussions, Dylan Blanchard on Congas, Raphael Freyre on Bass and Gary Wittner on guitar. This band has a great repertoire of latin dance music so join us for some fun!
Sunday, April 10th, 10AM – Jazz Service, 2nd Christian Congregational Church, Kittery ME
– Join us for the monthly jazz service at 2nd Christian Congo. Reverend Brad Hirst will set your mind and heart in motion and music director Mike Effenberger will bring it all to life musically. Jim Rudolph and myself will join in the fun. Come on in and check it out!
Sunday, April 10th, 4PM, JOSA with Grace Kelley, Eastman, Grantham, NH
– The finale of the JOSA season brings Grace Kelley to Eastman for an afternoon of great music. Should be a good time for all but get your tickets NOW. This will be a sellout for sure!
Monday, May 11th, 6PM, David Tonkin Quartet at The Barley House, Concord NH – Jazz and wine night at the Barley House in Concord with David on Guitar, Don Williams on Bass, Tim Gilmore on Drums and Myself on the saxamaphones. C’mon in for some great jazz and beyond as well as wine and dinner specials. A tasty combination!
Sunday, April 17th, 8PM, Mike Walsh Group, The Barley Pub, Dover, NH – Drummer and fellow Shaker Road teacher, Mike Walsh likes to play some challenging music and puts together some great groups for the cause. Tonight we’ll have Scott Solsky on guitar and Jesse Stern on bass and it should be a blast. Scott Mason at the pub is dedicated to providing a venue for live music and has been for quite some time now. Show some love and join us!
That’s enough odometer spinning for the time being. More great music coming up too! I’ll keep racking up the miles and pouring out the notes if you keep your ears and minds open and get out there and support some live music, art, theater, dance, and more! Thank you!
